November 2008 Tidings

  • Holy Nativity is cordially invited to a CD RELEASE PARTY THIS Friday, November 7th at 7:00pm at West Medicine Lake Community Club (1705 Forestview Lane North, Plymouth, MN 55441). This 70-minute CD, entitled “Trinitus,” contains 15 pieces of music composed by Holy Nativity musicians Iver Hubert, Lisa Baker and Braden Canfield, and was produced by Holy Nativity member, Greg Eklund. DOZENS of musicians from or connected to Holy Nativity participated in the recording of this CD.

    JOIN US FOR THIS SPECIAL FAMILY-FRIENDLY EVENT with FREE FOOD, DRINKS and starting at 8:00pm, a presentation with LIVE PERFORMANCES by the composers! CDs will be available for purchase ($13.00 each), or you may purchase a copy at church starting on Sunday, November 9th. A portion of the profits from this CD project will be donated to Holy Nativity.

  • WE NEED YOU for a few hours (9:00am - Noon) next Saturday, November 8th to help with 'Fall Yard-Work' at Holy Nativity. We’ll be raking, trimming, loading & hauling leaves and branches from our property. ("Many hands lighten the load!") Interior church cleaning will occur in the 'post-lefse season'....sign up on KIOSK or call 763.545.1647!

  • Vikings vs. Packers Tailgate Party November 9th!  All families and friends come and have fun at our Vikings tailgate Party (and support the Youth Group)! 12:00 Noon on Sunday, November 9th, in the Holy Nativity Fellowship Hall. The game will be projected onto a big screen and Holy Nativity Youth will sell concessions (all proceeds will go toward Bible Camp and Youth activities). To help us plan, please sign up at the Kiosk in the Narthex!

  • It’s Lefse Baking Time! Please join us as we prepare lefse for the upcoming bake sale on Nov. 22nd. If you don’t know how to make lefse, no problem – we’ll show you how! The next Lefse baking will be THIS Saturday at 9:00am-12:00pm (or so)! (For other baking dates, see Tidings.)

  • HELP HOLY NATIVITY PURCHASE COPIES OF THE NEW ELW HYMNAL! We will use these new hymnals beginning in December. To help offset the cost to Holy Nativity, we encourage you to purchase a copy for Holy Nativity in honor or memory of someone (you may also purchase copies for yourself). Forms are available in the office. Each hymnal is $20.00. If you have questions, or to see an ELW hymnal, please contact Iver Hubert, Lisa Baker or Greg Eklund. Please place ELW hymnal orders by Sunday, November 16th.

  • The next New Member Class will take place Sunday, November 16th. See the kiosk for more info.

  • Holy Growing Kids –All 1st-6th graders are invited! Join us this week - we meet every Wednesday from 6:30-7:30pm!

  • Holy Nativity Youth will Sleep-Out for Homelessness!  This year's Sleep-Out is November 15th, here at Holy Nativity. The youth will be in the Narthex November 2nd, 9th, and 16th collecting money to help alleviate homelessness in our own community. All funds will go directly to PRISM's emergency support program (we are hoping to receive matching funds, so all donations will go a long way). If you have questions or want to attend (or help!), please contact Kari Johnson.

  • Join us at the Old Log Theatre to see A Christmas Carol on Wednesday, December 10th at 2:00pm. See the sign-up sheet on the kiosk for details.

Holy Communion is celebrated the first and third Sundays of each month.

From September to May, child care is available during the 9:30 Education Hour and 10:30 service. During the summer, child care is available during the 10:30 service.

From September to May, Sunday school meets at 9:30 – children meet in the Sunday School music room. During this time, a Sunday forum (open to all) is offered in the sanctuary, and a Youth forum (for any/all Junior-Senior High youth) is offered in the Annex.
